Philosophy

As a functional medicine nutritionist, my approach emphasizes the unique biochemistry of each individual person, and the interplay between genetics, environment, and lifestyle factors in determining health outcomes. I focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of health imbalances and use food and nutrients to support optimal health and prevent chronic diseases.

I pride myself on taking a holistic approach to health and nutrition, looking beyond individual nutrients and macronutrients to consider the impact of food on the body as a whole. I use a variety of tools, including nutritional assessments, functional lab testing, and lifestyle evaluations, to develop personalized nutrition plans that address each person's unique needs and goals.

Functional nutrition also recognizes the importance of the mind-body connection in achieving optimal health. Many of my clients have benefited from incorporating stress reduction techniques, mindfulness practices, and other mind-body therapies, as they support their overall wellness.

Sports nutrition is the study of nutrition and diet as it relates to athletic performance. It involves the use of nutrition principles to enhance athletic performance, recovery, and overall health of athletes. As a sports nutritionist, I work with athletes to develop customized nutrition plans that help them meet their unique dietary needs and achieve their performance goals.

I often consider factors such as the athlete's age, sex, weight, height, training load, and competition schedule when developing nutrition plans, taking into account the type and intensity of the sport, as well as the athlete's personal preferences, food intolerances, and allergies.

Proper sports nutrition can help athletes maximize their potential by providing the nutrients necessary to support optimal performance, recovery, and injury prevention. This includes adequate intake of carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals, as well as proper hydration strategies.
